Family Support Network™ (FSN) of Region A is a program of the Region A Partnership for Children and an affiliate program of Family Support Network™ of North Carolina. The Family Support Network™ of Region A is a parent-to-parent program serving families of children with special needs or health concerns. The program serves families in Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain Counties, and the Cherokee Indian Reservation.
FSN of Region A offers one-to-one matching of caregivers of children with special needs; support parent coaching; support groups and educational groups; information and resources; and, a monthly e-newsletter.
We can help whenever you need help such as at the time of the diagnoses; when dealing with educational challenges or other developmental concerns of a child; when planning your child’s future; offering support to other family members who are involved with your child with special needs; when you are new to the community; during illness, crisis, or transition; and, when you need to talk to someone who has “been there, done that”.
Anyone living in Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain Counties, and the Cherokee Indian Reservation can access our services. Self-referrals are welcome as is referrals from providers.
We involve interested caregivers, service providers, and community members who would like to ensure that families of children with special needs are supported, empowered and knowledgeable. You can participate by volunteering to be a support parent; refer someone to the program; attend a support group or workshop; volunteer at an event; and/or, contact the program for support.
Through Family Support Network parents learn to share their experiences in a positive way and to provide the support another parent needs. Parents are coached on listening and talking with each other for a positive outcome as they journey through their new adventure.
Awareness brings understanding. FSN of Region A works to educate citizens about children with special needs and about how to support the well-being of their families. The Family Support NetworkTM brings families together to support and learn from each other, links people with resources; provides educational workshops; and hosts support groups.
