We want families to know they are not alone in caring for a child with special needs. We help build community support for families, providing information and resources for parents and caregivers of children with special needs.

 

What do we offer? 

  • Connecting caregivers of children with special needs to other caregivers with similar experiences

  • Coaching for caregivers who want to support other caregivers

  • Support groups and educational workshops

  • Families and service providers with information and referrals to community, regional, state, and national services, and resources to support their children and family members

  • Assistance navigating service systems to increase access to supports and resources for children with special healthcare needs, disabilities, and behavior health challenges and their families.

When can we help? 

  • At birth or at time of diagnosis 

  • When dealing with educational challenges or other developmental concerns of a child 

  • When planning for your child’s future 

  • To support your other family members who are involved with your child with special needs 

  • When you are new to the community 

  • At time of illness, crisis, or transition 

  • When you need to talk to someone who has “been there, done that”

Who can access our services? 

  • Any family member living in Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain Counties, and the Qualla Boundary 

  • Any professional working with families
