Meet your Quality Enhancement Specialist
Vicki Cole is the Quality Enhancement Specialist at Southwestern Child Development Commission, a project sponsored by Smart Start through the Region A Partnership for Children. She works with child care centers and family child care homes to offer on-site technical assistance for Infant/Toddler and Pre-school programs who wish to enhance or maintain high quality child care.
Quality Enhancement focuses on improving classroom environments for children birth to five. Vicki uses the Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale- Revised (ITERS-R) and Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale Revised Edition (ECERS-R), or Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCER-S) to assess child care programs. A pre and post analysis will be carried out based on the ITERS-R, ECERS-R or FCCER-S assessment either by the NCRLAP assessor or Vicki.
Vicki provides in-depth technical assistance to the infant, toddler and pre-school classroom staff and program directors.
Vicki also uses the NC-CSEFEL Pyramid Model. The Pyramid Model is a way to enhance quality of care and promote optimal well-being for all children. It gives us evidence based practices to ensure a healthy foundation for future success.
